Soda firing is a unique technique that sprays baking soda directly into the kiln to form soda glass on the surface of the vessel. The parts facing the flames develop a glossy blue color, and on the contrary, the parts that are shadows and do not face the flames develop a black color that retains the texture of clay. This work was placed in a kiln where it faced flames from all directions, and the accumulated soda glass flowed downward as if washing away the GOSU that had been painted. The white that appears at the top of the work is the color of the clay. Lustrous blue, plenty of coated soda made an interesting change.
