Soda firing is a unique technique that sprays baking soda directly into the kiln to form soda glass on the surface of the vessel. The parts facing the flames develop a glossy blue color, and on the contrary, the parts that are shadows and do not face the flames develop a black color that retains the texture of clay. This work faced flames from all directions, so a lot of soda glass was formed. A generous glass of molten soda washed away the painted GOSU, revealing a white clay color.
